So much fun, it’s scary

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

MINI Motor-Tober is in full swing for the month October, with MINI hoping to cut the edge off the holiday season’s “stressful times” with some thoroughly enjoyable motoring. The marketing campaign for this year includes the usual cute and whimsical advertising the brand is known for, and encourages South Florida to get out and test drive a MINI at the numerous events being held at South and Vista MINI.

A thrilling test drive is not all that they are offering. Through November 2nd, 1.9 percent financing for 60 months is available, as well as some tantalizing lease offers on all new 2009 MINIs.

“Nothing says exhilaration like getting behind the wheel of a MINI, and our Motor-Tober celebration encourages customers to do just that”, says Jim McDowell Vice President of MINI USA. So get down to our dealership and enjoy the celebration by stepping into the MINI you have always wanted because, this season, MINI is offering all the treats and none of the tricks.

MINI continues The Experience

Go-Kart handling, a deceptively spacious interior and an endless combination of personalization options are all ever-present in the 2010 MINI. Under the hood is the 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine, boasting 116 HP in the Cooper and 172 HP in the turbocharged Cooper S.

While the Cooper S has a more sporty suspension, you’ll find both offer a nice standard of driving pleasure. Despite the athletic performance you’ll find, both MINIs deliver stellar fuel economy, with the Cooper providing 28/37 City/Highway and the Cooper S getting 26/34 city/highway. Both fuel economy numbers are for manual transmission variants of the two models.

SoMo Showdown:

2009 BMW 128i Convertible vs 2009 MINI Cooper S Convertible

Here we have two great cars testing their mettle in a standard array of road tests. Though South BMW awards victory to the 2009 BMW 128i in most of the tests, the MINI keeps it close. The MINI’s ability to remain a worthy opponent throughout the battle is even more impressive when considering the MSRP difference between the two. In the end, both cars prove themselves to be an incredible value on the performance circuit. While the BMW 128i proves the victor in the 0-60 and quarter mile categories, the MINI’s triumph on skid pad shows its trademark bulldog stance and go-kart handling can’t be counted out of the fight.

Whether you decide on the BMW 128i or the MINI Cooper S, South BMW has the car for you. With a vast selection of vehicles and flexible financing options available onsite and through BMW FS, you can find the perfect BMW or MINI for your South Florida lifestyle. Shop our selection online or visit us in person at South BMW. At South BMW, the customer is always the winner!

MINI Celebrates 50th anniversary

MINI Celebrates 50th anniversary

In a coincidence to be quite proud of, just weeks after celebrating its 50th anniversary, MINI has produced its 1,500,000 vehicle since reproduction began again in 2001. The 1.5 millionth model that rolled off the assembly line was a MINI Clubman in Chili red, as MINI’s Business Minister and BMW Group board member Ian Robertson. It will be going to a British customer.

Since the relaunch in 2001, MINI has become a bit of a success story. Its unique blend of driving thrills, individuality and premium quality has led to record sales in 80 countries on every continent. Though the recent dip in the economy has been unpleasant for all automotive companies, MINI has proven to be a highly resilient brand with strong customer fanfare and lasting appeal. This strong brand durability will no doubt lead to a diverse launch of new models in the coming years.

More MINIs? We openly welcome more the thought. And one thing is certain – The future looks HUGE for this little car.

MINI introduces the long-awaited Openometer

Openometer

Openometer

Convertible motorers always boast about how long they keep their top down.  From office to coffee house, from the mean urban streets to the curling, dusty country roads, thousands of braggarts are constantly proclaiming to be the One Most Open.

Now, with the advent of MINI’s Openometer, proving who is most dedicated to the Open Philosophy is as easy as a breeze (pun intended).  The Openometer is the newest instrument on the convertible MINI’s dash.  It measures how long the top has been down on your MINI.

Now, your top-down time claims will never be questioned.  All that needs to be done to confirm your outlandish convertible-related braggadocio is a quick look in the cockpit of your smart looking MINI.

At last, the day has come. It has never been easier to flaunt your topless hours and keep an Open Mind.
